Kelly Music Research Bids Farewell

December 8, 2022

Philadelphia based Kelly Music Research has announced it will wrap up operations at the end of 2022. Since 1991 Kelly has provided market research to Broadcast Radio and the Music Industries. Brothers Tom and Paul Kelly will turn their attention to the family non-profit organization they founded in 2012, Kelly Music for Life. The non-profit provides music and arts initiatives and education opportunities to young artists and performers. Kelly Music for Life owns and operates a performance venue, the Kelly Center for Music, Arts and Community in Havertown, PA which features gallery space and a stage for live shows.

President Tom Kelly is grateful for the opportunity to have helped create success for its clients. “For 31 years we have enjoyed working alongside some of the best in Radio and Music. The highlight for me has been the people we have served – Radio Programmers and Managers as well as Music Industry Artists and Executives.”

Vice President Paul Kelly adds, “Whether it is local Call-Out or Library Testing, it is fascinating and rewarding to see and act on the subtle differences in listener tastes from market to market.”

Kelly is known for its innovations, including receiving a U.S. Patent on introducing its at-home music research methodology the “Living Room Music Test” in 1995 which was also featured in a book published by the National Association of Broadcasters in 2000, “Music Research – The Silver Bullet to Eternal Success.” Kelly was also first to offer its music research services for commercial barter in a partnership with United Stations Radio Networks in the 1990’s.

The Kellys will focus their energies on fundraising efforts and music and arts festivals. The Kelly Center offers an intimate listening room space for 100 and features songwriters, bands, comedy and student performances. The organization produces several outdoor music and arts festivals annually to support the Kelly Center and the non-profit’s community and education initiatives.
